Off the upcoming Summer Knights mixtape, dropping on June 12.
Had to bust out the vinyl for the upcoming Aquanet 10-Year Reunion here in Boston. Let’s see what precious gems I have in my collection.
No one will ever forget the 1987 classic “Something Gonna Jump Out The Bushes!” by Nappy Brown. Dude’s fingernails are made out of magic.

I’ll come up with a cleverer title after some more coffee.
For now, it’s this week in Boston hip hop…
Yesterday, the part of the Internet that cares about what happens with Wu-Tang was all abuzz about this tweet from the official Wu acct
Apparently things are now all good (until they’re not again). One person I can guarantee isn’t holding things up on his end is the mighty Cappadonna a/k/a the Cab Driver. For no apparent reason other than he’s just nice like that, Cappa has been putting in work with a couple of scene-stealing cameos on recent projects. Now I should preface this: if you need a primer on Cappa’s style, just stop right here because you won’t get the rest of the post. Yes, it doesn’t always rhyme (like his entire verse from “Triumph”). Yes, he’s an unrepentant shit talker for a guy who was once a gypsy cab driver in Baltimore. But there’s an art to his darts. And he’s been twistin them shits from the heart recently.

The supervillain needs the right accomplices. There’s the good ones, like Madlib and Ghostface, who complement DOOM’s weirdness and add their own. And then there are collaborations that look promising on paper but fizzle on wax. Exhibit A and B: Thom Yorke and Jneiro Jarel. I wanted to like Keys to the Cuff, but the busy, glitchy production never synched up with DOOM’s fragmented flow.
The latest henchman, Clams Casino, gives DOOM the space he needs. “Bookfiend” is all lazy synth stabs and ambient drums, the perfect backdrop for the Villain’s bizarre bars: “Taste stale/see the world in shades of grayscale.” Who else could say that with a straight face and sound ill?
Here’s to hoping DOOM snaps his string of underwhelming projects.

Local spotlight: Vydle Sinez x Incredible Chuck = Noteriety. 1st single from their upcoming EP Well Rested, produced by GxWay, dropping on 5/5/13
For once in the history of the universe, DJ ON&ON was on top of life, while Sleezy Trees hit rock bottom.
After I was done hosting an A.Z. show, Trees saunters into the club as it’s closing down and demands drinks at the bar.
I identify my friend is in trouble, and do what any concerned friend would…exploit his pain and anguish on a radio show for the world’s entertainment.
ON and Trees head to Clear Channel headquarters to record a drunken emotional perfect storm of a psychiatry session called SHIT SHOW Episode 7.
In all fairness, Trees has rebounded incredibly since this show, landing a high profile corporate job, and settling down in exotic East Bumfuck North Carolina.
Nevertheless, savor this moment in radio history when things were much simpler.

ON&ON I don’t care if I post too much Danny Brown. I’mma do it again.
OLD COMING SOON.

Cause New York is ballin right now.

The homie Effect (one-half of Los Wunder Twins Del Rap with D-Tension) is back in action with the first single from his new collaborative album with Dang entitled You Don’t Love Me and I Don’t Care, and it’s already locked in steady rotation. Bunch of white boys who can rap riding a funky bass line FTW, with a special nod to Celph (“I’m the next rap legend to-be, when I make it up to heaven I’ll be charging Tupac for 16s”).
You can pick up the Rap Terminators EP, featuring the original and remix version, plus “Chuck Taylors” and “I Fucked Up,” for just a couple dollars, or just wait for the album to drop on May 21.

Did you wake up and feel a disturbance in the Force? Like a seismic shift had occurred only on the Internet? Did Jordan unretire again? Is Pac the next president of Cuba? No, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z just made a song together–a remix, no less, of “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.” And it’s pretty good.

Black Milk coming with a lot of new music in 2013, and believe I’ll be posting all of it.
Bonus: Adrian Younge x The Delfonics – “Stop & Look (And You Have Found Love)” Black Milk Remix f/ Souls of Mischief
