Google Goggles

Posted on February 10, 2010 by Chris Faraone

I’ve been writing an article about kickass iPhone and Android apps, and have been blown the fuck away by how dynamic some of this shit is. Of particular intensity is Google Goggles, which is kind of like Shazam for objects. (Insert lame “beer goggles”-inspired jokes here…)

Basically – you take a picture of just about anything, and it scans the Google Pics database for matches. I’m not sure how this is of any use whatsoever – maybe to identify priceless art at yard sales – but it’s pretty crazy nonetheless. Also – I used to know a girl in Florida whose nickname was Yard Sale.
