Disc Review: Swollen Members | “Armed to the Teeth”
Posted on November 20, 2009 by Chris Faraone

I’m not completely sure why the mere mention of Swollen Members rubs so many underground rap snobs the wrong way. Sure, there are cuts like “Pornstar” that fall short of even the lowest conceptual standards set by the group’s juvenile name. But listen past the hollow cake and candy (“Bollywood Chick”) and you’ll find scorchers (“Bang Bang,” “Meltdown”) from this decade-strong Vancouver crew that warrant close consideration.

wow you suck at your job.
good to see swollen get a nice review. i feel the same way about this disc. if you can get past some of the auto-tune dance club tracks, there is definitely some substance.
“my life” is dope. mad child raps about his addiction to oxycontin and the struggle to get clean. and he includes some jabs at other rappers along the way…”10’s 20’s 40’s 80’s, asher roth sounds exactly like slim shady”. shit is simple, but it’s catchy and makes you laugh.
other notable tracks: warrior, bang bang, here we come, crossfire ft. talib kweli, and the track with la coka.
and its good to see JTTS cover someone else besides m-dot!
i got ur swollen member rite here, faraone
nice…thanks for deleting my post
I’ve only ever heard about 3 or 4 Swollen Members tracks and never really felt anything that would wow me enough or repel me enough to have a strong opinion of them. So it doesn’t really make a difference to me.
