The Gospel of KRS-One

THIS IS NOT A BOOK REVIEW! I haven’t yet had a chance to finger through the new tome from KRS, but I nonetheless wanted to throw out the fact that, as of this week, it’s out there for all to purchase. HERE FOR MORE INFO…
While I sometimes criticize those who attempt to explain hip-hop, I’m sure KRS can illustrate the essence better than anyone else. As he’s told us repeatedly throughout the years, he is hip-hop (his book imprint is even called I Am Hip-Hop).
From the looks of it, KRS is anticipating that his latest will resonate as a central reference for how rap music is remembered 100 years from now. I guess he’s the ideal author; this is not the type of assignment that should be left to some Rolling Stone reporter who looks like he’s home alone.

More pontificating from KRS.
Fab 5 Freddy is hip hop
Im so sick of krsone outliving his own legacy. his whole shit from the past 10 years but more so the last 5 (I did like Keep Right) has been why hip hop sucks while homie makes redundant why hip hop isn’t what it use to be records. you cant complain about the direction of the music while you continue to do the same mediocre formula and bland uninventive rhymes/patterns. His legacy is incredible, but no way you wouldnt tell me the Criminal Minded KRS wouldnt smack the shit outta this one.
and the RZA – Tao of the Wu is an incredible read.
I’d still check out this book regardless, it’d probably be something useful/insightful to have, regardless of WHAT he does with his legacy. These days everyone seems to be lamenting the loss of “real” hip hop, when really they’re just contributing to it. Of course you’d say the songs are redundant because there are so many of them. You’re just losing more of hip hop if all you can do is complain about it. I think they just need to go back to the original feel of hip hop. When it was fresh, sometimes really light and quite witty. I’m not saying that doesn’t exist anymore, I’m just saying a lot of people have lost focus of that. People need to stop grieving for hip hop so much and start celebrating it more.
KRS one 1 1 should be dropped off in a distant forest in South America, so I never have to listen/see him ever again. Go teach someone else get a job suckin dick for wooden nickles.
