A Tour Blog Worth Reading???

Posted on September 1, 2009 by Chris Faraone

After third-rate hip-hop mags that dudes print in their basements – and most rap blogs and liner notes – there’s really nothing worse to read than tour blogs. Cats are either full-of-shit claiming that they party like Keith Richards, or they’re straight boring. Oh yeah – there are also major label artists, who don’t write their own dispatches (if you don’t believe me just check their writing against their Twitter feeds. Cats are illiterate).

Not necessarily the case with 7L and Esoteric, who are on the West Coast with Jedi Mind Tricks (a remarkable feat, I might add, since I saw 7L in Boston last week). It’s not the most entertaining read, but – to their credit – dudes followed through.  Most rappers write for the first two nights and then fall the fuck off.

Anyway…the point of this post is not just to highlight more prose regarding Esoteric and his canines. I’m curious as to whether JTTS readers are interested in tour updates from underground road dogs. If that’s the case – I’m going to work some arrangements with MCs who are touring this Fall. It’s part of my larger initiative to promote live music through the site.

I used to really like 7L & Eso back when protocal & headswell & the joint with rebel ins came out. In fact, the 1st record i ever bought on vynil was the rebel alliance lp. I loved it but nowadays for some reason i dont like them anymore. I think he sound like a rich kid trying appeal to other rich kids. Maybe im wrong cuz when i talk to him he’s always mad kool. I think must have found a niche among rich B.U. & Harvard kids & thats who he raps for to put food on the table. You gotta admit his music has changed for the worse.
