New Statik Selektah Bean Anthem
Posted on October 12, 2008 by Chris Faraone

Nary is there a message board out there with a Boston hip-hop track posted that doesn’t have at least one comment along the lines of “Yo fuck Boston. Mother fuckers ain’t gettin’ it on up there. Bitch ass space rap. Shit don’t even make sense.”
Other than the obvious stupidity of those comments – as if people from New York and Los Angeles were endowed with better rap skills than people born in smaller cities – it doesn’t even hold weight now that Boston, Philly, Chicago and a host of other mini-metropolises are home to big shots who represent across the genre, from the underground to more commercial street rap circles.
As someone who moved here from Queens after growing up digesting heaping portions of New York’s second hip-hop renaissance, I feel like people should believe me when I tell them that the Boston rap scene has kept me entertained at least four nights a week since I arrived five years ago. If you won’t take my word for it, just check this new Beantown anthem from Statik Selektah’s upcoming Stick 2 the Script.
