DIPLO ASSISTS SNOOP DOGG IN MAKING A MOCKERY OF JAMAICAN CULTURE

This shit is awful.

While in Jamaica recording his collab album with Diplo titled “Reincarnated”, Snoop concocted this hot piece of shit. Production wise, it’s top notch, delivering classic roots sensibilities.

Then you have Snoop chanting on some fugazi patois shit. Blasphemy.

A nigga from Mississippi who grew up in Long Beach trying to sing like a Jamaican is the Ja-Fakin-Est shit ever.

It’s like Aretha singing in a British accent, KRS rapping in a German accent, or The Beatles & Rolling Stones trying to sing like African Americans…well, um…you know what I mean.

Whether it’s Snoop, or Wyclef’s French speaking Haitian ass, my number one musical pet peeve is jacking Jamaican patois when you have no business doing so. Don’t matter how much ganja you smoke, Snoop, you’re a yankee  bloodclot fi for life.

Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion “La La La” (Prod. by Diplo)

Oh, and as for the track being “produced” by Diplo…listen to this little ditty titled “Artibella” by Ken Boothe.

Good job Snoop and Diplo, too bad the upcoming Olympics don’t have an event called RAPE. You guys woulda shined.

There’s a proper way you can play with patois if it’s not your mother tongue and not come across as a disrespectful, culture stealing leech . My nucka BALLGREEZY know what’s up….

Look, as a white cat that grew up in a Caribbean hood, running with mostly Caribbean (Jamdown, Belize, Trinidad) homies, this is just laughable to me. Being fluent in Jamaican patois, in terms of understanding people when they speak in the language most comfortable to them, is a good thing- it’s a really interesting language, and it’s always cool to let people be themselves. But I would never, not ever, think it was cool to fake an accent like this dude does. It’s fine to show respect to a culture that, for whatever reason, you got love for. This is just offensive. The best way to respect Caribbean culture is to be yourself and promote the things you respect about it- if you know Jamaicans, there’s nothing they respect more that being real.
