BIG Night On Musenomix This Wednesday (6/8 | 10-12pm): 30 Years of DJ Red Alert
As most of you already know, members of the JTTS crew often make cameo appearances on the Wednesday night hip-hop show Musenomix, broadcast on WMBR 88.1FM out of the dark dungeons of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (STREAM HERE). For all you knuckleheads out there, that’s the same thing as MIT, as in Good Will Hunting. It’s an extremely smart rap show for extremely smart rap fans, and we have the school affiliation to prove it.
While every week is unique over there – we once did a show dedicated to albums that dropped in the first quarter of 1992 – this one is particularly special. For the 30th anniversary of Red Alert‘s radio career, host DS Turner is having on the man himself. He also appears to have invited everyone he knows that has an opinion on hip-hop – including me, Marty C, and local rap historian Pacey Foster – as well as a bunch of heads to call in. We’ll interview Red about his basketball roots, becoming a DJ w/ for the Universal Zulu Nation in the 70s, his dancehall roots, the countless rap legends he broke on his radio shows in NYC during the 80s and 90s & much more!
