   I was just on the ABC news website. It seems the general public consensus is that the government is lying and Tim Osman was not assasinated by Navy SEALS but ABC is deleting the skeptical posts almost as fast as they come in.

    I thought this ended in a supreme victory for my logic and reasoning yesterday, but apparently not.

    Don’t really care to continue this comment-for-comment debate today either, BUT…I’ll say this. Sure, I get your point about the anonymous sources. But this is how journalism works! People use anonymous sources all the time. Do you think Bob Woodward and David Bernstein were getting government officials to go on the record about Watergate? Dealing with anonymous sources is a major part of the job of being a reporter. And GOOD reporters–certainly not all–are trained to be thoroughly vet their sources, cross-examine their stories with other sources, etc. This is what they teach you in journalism school. People need to stay off the record to protect themselves, and if wasn’t for anonymous sources then very few meaningful stories would be able to break. I get the point you are making, but it’s too easy to blame “the media” as one large entity…I encourage you to do your own investigation, develop your own sources and interview them and do all the things that trained journalists do on a daily basis. Not that easy and not that simple.

    My main beef is that you seem to disregard all these reporters as stupid or being easily hoodwinked into believing the government’s official story. Some probably are (the shitty ones), but the good ones aren’t, and let’s have some respect for those doing all the dirty work of researching and reporting so we have the luxury of bitching about it on the Internet sidelines all day. In the coming weeks and months I guarantee you there will be some excellent pieces of journalism that will reveal a lot more than we know now. Smell me?

    the government’s post-game “adjustments” of the story certainly leave room for more questions to be raised. I’m not a conspiracy nut, but I’m not stupid either.

    This is where our country gets completely divided. You got the majority of people who actually believe the news and trust our government would never lie.
